The Archbishop's Museum dates back to the first half of the 18th century: As part of the renovation or new construction of the Cathedral of Ravenna under Archbishop Niccolò Farsetti, the inscriptions, mosaic fragments and stone monuments there (from the 6th century) were stored in their own lapidarium set up. At the beginning of the 20th century, the museum was rebuilt and objects from churches in the diocese were added. This was followed by excavation finds from the second half of the 20th century. After several years of restructuring (opening in February 2010), the museum has a second floor and includes a small picture gallery and a collection of liturgical devices and vestments.
