The castle pond was fed by the Leitegraben, which brought drinking water from the Thieletal to the city. The dam in the east was artificially raised. Thanks to its special construction, the boathouse helped the court party gallantly embark on a boat party.
Around 1765, Prince Friedrich laid out the Spenderallee planted with linden trees. The architectural axis of the residential palace is thereby extended far into the landscape.
