A little further on you will find a royal connecting passage between the basilica and the former gatehouse. This was built together with the basilica. Source: scherpenheuvel.be/nl/locatie-detailThe Baroque passage connected the later built Oratorian monastery with the sacristy of the basilica. Around 1624, an Oratorian monastery with a monastery garden was built behind the Basilica. In 1668, the monastery was connected to the sacristy of the church via a vaulted gallery, known as the Baroque corridor. Part of this 80-metre-long gallery runs through the hill. This 17th-century Baroque corridor was restored in 1947 and furnished as an exhibition hall. A thorough restoration followed in 1998-1999.

The procession route is completely through greenery with tall trees, with sufficient benches. You can then visit the basilica. Highly recommended 💒
