The Lourdes Grotto is in the garden of the house where she was born. In 1934, Therese Neumann commissioned the sculptor Josef Mayer to carve a group of figures for the grotto. The black stones for the grotto are slag residues from nearby Bohemia. Therese Neumann also wanted a watercourse with a pump to remind people of the spring in Lourdes. In 2010, the grotto was renovated, and at the moment - April 2024 - a renovation is taking place in the house where she was born, which also affects the Lourdes Grotto.

After the Regensburg sculptor Josef Mayer carved a large mission cross for the Konnersreuth parish church of St. Laurentius in 1933, Therese Neumann also commissioned a group of figures with Mary and St. Bernadette from this artist in early March 1934 in order to build a Lourdes grotto near her parents' house.
