In the origin of the Feisnitz reservoir was used as a cooling water storage for the power plant Arzberg. He was dammed up by the Bavarian electricity supply company for it. After the decommissioning of the power plant in 2003 and demolition in 2006, the lake was handed over to the city of Arzberg. Today Feisnitzspeicher serves as a popular destination. Swimming, hiking, cycling and many other activities are possible here.

The Feisnitz reservoir is a reservoir that is well developed for tourism. There is a guest house, a campsite, a bathing area with a playground, fishing and much more. There is a beautiful circular path around the lake.

The reservoir was dammed by the then Bayerische Elektrizitätsversorgungsgesellschaft (BELG) and Elektrizitäts-Versorgung Oberfranken (EVO) as a cooling water reservoir for the Arzberg power plant. It then became the property of E.ON AG. The Arzberg power plant was shut down in 2003 and demolished in 2006. The reservoir was handed over to the town of Arzberg.
The reservoir is 15.54 hectares in size and about 1.3 km long. The storage space is 1,300,000 m³. The water surface is at a height of 503 m[1]. The dam with a structural volume of 120,000 m³ is 19 m high above the riverbed and 26 m high above the foundation base; at the crest it is 150 m long.
