Typically Nordic and Hanseatic – that's how Stralsund's harbor presents itself.
In summer, a stroll along the northern pier is worthwhile: hundreds of large and small yachts from all over the world gently rock on the quay, clinking their shrouds.
Brick warehouses, cozy harbor bars, restaurants, and, of course, freshly caught fish from the local fishermen make Stralsund's harbor a true highlight.
Founded in 1234, the Hanseatic city on the Strelasund Strait was already one of the most important long-distance trading cities and transshipment points in Northern Europe in the Middle Ages.
Large sailing ships docked here and were loaded and unloaded with grain, fish (especially herring), butter, cloth, and salt.
You can still feel these Hanseatic roots today when you visit the harbor.
Stralsund's impressive skyline, with its warehouses, ferries, sailing ships, and cutters, defines its maritime flair.
Stralsund Harbor consists of the City Harbor, the North Harbor, and the South Harbor.

The North and South Harbors primarily handle general cargo and bulk goods.

Fishermen offer their freshly caught fish for sale. Numerous sailboats and motorboats are moored here, and quaint harbor bars offer delicious fish dishes alongside a stiff grog.

From here the ferry takes you to Hiddensee.

Beautiful old harbor, lots of restaurants nearby. There is always fishing on the harbor pier. This is also the home of the white fleet for tours on the Bodden or to Hiddensee.
