    Elisabeth of Great Britain, Ireland and Hanover (1770–1840), Landgravine of Hesse-Homburg due to her marriage, earned herself high esteem as a supporter of the citizens and the city of Homburg, so that Victoria Empress Friedrich (1840–1901) ordered the erection of a monument her great-aunt suggested. Her son Kaiser Wilhelm II fulfilled his wish, but only after Victoria's death. The unveiling by him and his uncle, the British King Edward VII, took place in August 1908 in front of the apse of the English Church. The sculpture is a listed building.
