The High Fens peatlands are one of the most unique and rugged natural areas in Belgium. Here, a vast plateau stretches out where peat, water, and wind dominate the landscape. It is a place where nature follows its own rhythm and where silence and vastness converge in an almost surreal atmosphere.

The peat landscape consists of wet marshes, spongy soil, and vast grasslands and heathlands intersected by meandering streams and dark pools. Centuries of plant debris have created a unique ecosystem here, which serves as a natural water buffer and simultaneously provides a refuge for rare plants and animals.
