The Protestant Laurentius Church in Widdern was first mentioned in 1258. It was rebuilt in its current form between 1892 and 1895, with the late Gothic core remaining. The architect for this new building was Louis Stahl.
Renovations took place mainly in 1582 (repair of the church tower) and 1710.
Inside the church you can find a lot of colorful epitaphs from the 15th to the 18th century. There are particularly large numbers of gravestones belonging to the Lords of Gemmingen.
The pulpit base is also worth seeing.
High water marks can be found on the outside of the church. There is also a stone with the year 1708 on which it says: "1708 - Christian Graf Werckmeister; Iohan Albrecht Nusser Zimermann". These were probably the main people involved in the renovation in the early 18th century.
