The water tower was built in 1897.
During the Second World War the tower was used by the Germans as a watchtower. At the end of the war, the Germans tried in vain to blow up the tower. However, this made a restoration necessary, which was completed in December 1947. In 2007, the tower was decommissioned after 110 years of use. The tower is still owned by the water company Brabant Water.

WATER TOWER in Neo-Renaissance style built in 1897, for the Tilburgsche Waterleiding Maatschappij after a design from 1895 by H.P.N. Halbertsma ('s-Gravenhage). The tower is about 50 meters high and has an internal diameter of about 12 meters. It has an open riveted sheet-iron reservoir with a volume of 1000 m3, according to the system of Prof. Intze (Aachen).

The water tower in Tilburg was built in 1897 for the Tilburg Water Supply Company. That year, the city received not only a tower but also a pipe network and a pumping station. The tower was designed by architect H.P.N. Halbertsma.
During World War II, the Germans used the tower as a lookout tower. At the end of the war, on October 26, 1944, the Germans tried unsuccessfully to blow up the tower. The tower remained standing, but the superstructure and the reservoir were severely damaged.
