Today we're walking back to the historic center of Hoorn. I'm not one for city breaks, but I can highly recommend Hoorn. It's a truly beautiful city!
And we're also lucky with the weather. It stayed dry all day, and we even enjoyed coffee in the sunshine 🌞.
Tired but happy after this beautiful day, we're now putting our feet up.

From Volendam, we drive on to Hoorn, where our B&B is for the next two nights.
We take a short walk there.
Hoorn has a beautiful historic center with many lovely facades.
The wind is making it quite cold, so we stop for a hot chocolate in the Grote Kerk (Great Church), which has been converted into a hotel

We're spending the weekend in North Holland and are going to Volendam today. On the way there, we had constant rain, and when we arrived in Volendam, it was still drizzling. It was quite chilly, so we had a hot chocolate first. Meanwhile, it had dried up, and we stayed dry.

Today I had another lovely walk with Corrie and Leo.
There's a lot of maintenance going on, so in some places it's muddy because of the tire tracks.
We even came across a hunting club. It was great to see those enthusiastic dogs.

We seem like a bunch of amateurs. Apparently, if you haven't hiked for a while, you can't read routes anymore. Not us, anyway 🤦😂. The geocaching was a complete failure, so we kept going back and forth. Because of that, the build-up went a bit too fast for me, with almost double the distance compared

Slowly building things up again 🙄.
Hopefully, 2026 will be a year without physical limitations and we can go on long weekly walks again.
Happy New Year to everyone, and all the best for 2026!

We'll also briefly visit the Hermann's Monument.

What wonderful weather it is today! We're going to the Teutenburg Forest and visiting the Externsteine. Jeroen and Corrie climb the steps, and Leo and I admire the whole thing from below.

Months ago, when I booked this weekend, I already had a foresight: that it would stay dry around Volendam, Hoorn, and Edam 😂.
On the way home, we took a walk through Edam. Also beautiful, but not particularly special after Hoorn. A better order would have been: Volendam, Edam, and then Hoorn. But we
