The St. Nepomuk fountain was built around 1774 and originally stood in the middle of the market square. When the current street was built in the late 19th century, the fountain was moved to its current location. In the narrow Eyach Valley, there were several footbridges and bridges over the river. St. Nepomuk is considered the bridge saint and was probably placed here for this reason.
