The "Elisabethmarkt," as it is called by locals, is one of Munich's permanent markets. It is located between tall trees, next to the impressive building of the Municipal Vocational School for Automotive Engineering, Railway and Traction Operations and the Schauburg Munich, the city's children's and youth theater. The market was founded in 1880 as the market at Maffeianger. In 1903, it moved to Elisabethplatz. Like at the Viktualienmarkt, the market stalls will be renovated in the coming years.
