The history of the Mülheim Bismarck Tower began in March 1904, when the respected Mülheim citizen and benefactor Dr. Hermann Leonhard asked for permission from the building authorities to erect a Bismarck Tower on the Kahlenberg based on a design by the city councilor Carl Linnemann. This permission stood nothing in the way and so a location could soon be chosen that offered the most beautiful and widest view of the Ruhr Valley. ..."
