The GDR customs administration was a state organ of the GDR that was responsible for state control of all goods, foreign exchange and money transactions in accordance with the customs law, the foreign exchange law and the money traffic regulations. Its predecessor was the “Office for Customs and Control of Goods Traffic (AZKW),” which was established on August 28, 1952. The customs administration was created in 1962 after the construction of the Berlin Wall and was subordinate to the Ministry of Foreign Trade until October 3, 1990.

Hiking

Between 1949 and 1952, customs clearance was located here in Bergen. Closed in 1952 and reopened in 1972 on the B71. The cobblestone street extends to the former Bergen train station in Klein Grabenstedt.
