The Kehrwiederwall is located near the New Gate in Hildesheim. This is part of several ramparts that were built in the 15th century to protect the city. In addition to the Kehrwiederwall, these include the Langelinienwall and the Hohe Wall. They frame around two-thirds of the city center and are part of the public green spaces. Protected as architectural monuments, they now serve primarily as a recreational area.
