Knollenstraße is one of the most photographed streets in Hildesheim because of its well-preserved half-timbered houses. Unfortunately also with a lot of teaching where the houses decay.

The little brother from Keßlerstrasse with equally impressive half-timbering.

Almost all of the houses on Knollenstrasse are two- to three-story half-timbered houses on the eaves. The most striking of them is the house at Knollenstrasse No. 9, which was built in 1789 - possibly as a farmer's house - and added an additional floor in 1897. In the middle you can still see the wide entrance to the hallway. The house was built on a base made of sandstone blocks and renovated in 1982.

Throughout Knollenstrasse - as in the neighboring Keßlerstrasse - the colorful, well-preserved front doors from the 19th and early 20th centuries are striking. The house at Knollenstrasse No. 2, also built on a sandstone base, is additionally decorated with a saying on the facade above the ground floor. A metal door knocker on his front door is also noticeable - it is a reminder of a time when there were no doorbells.
