Schlupkothen: If there was a way down, we would be down as quickly as possible. "The lake is calling", it is quoted obliquely. The quarry filled with water looks wildly tempting, but the paths around it bear witness to the lively traffic due to the degree of wear and tear. It's a good thing we find the time to hike here on a sunny Monday.
We are alone here and enjoy the silence.

Schlupkothen is a district of Wülfrath.
The north of the district is characterized by the renatured Schlupkothen quarry, in which more than 45 million tons of limestone were mined from 1898 to 1960. The 33.37 hectare, water-filled quarry, which has been surrounded by a circular hiking trail with viewing platforms since 2003, has been designated as a nature reserve since 1984 because of its special importance as a reptile and amphibian area. Protection ends automatically when the limestone quarry is managed again.
