Tips

The history of the castle Hardenberg goes back to a fortified castle from the 13th century. The castle building is currently being renovated and will be used as a venue for cultural events in the near future. The already renovated bailey can be rented for events. In addition, there are regular events such as medieval markets or classic car meetings.

Baroque castle Hardenberg, whose history goes back to the 13th century. The entire complex is located on an island and consists of the main castle and a bailey and is surrounded by a park.
A strong character to visit, but also for events of cabaret & theater, meetings & seminars or anniversaries, company parties, as well as exhibition or art market.
The large courtyard with its historic atmosphere also hosts open-air events such as craft and Christmas markets, garden days, lantern magic, jazz matinee or classic car shows.
Also catering is provided. Whether 5-course menu, finger food, goulash or buffet, sparkling or seltzer.

Directly at Hardenberg Castle there is a nicely laid out mini golf course with a kiosk, which invites you to play and linger.

"... Hardenberg Castle is the oldest culturally used monument in the Mettmann district.
The residence of the Hardenberg lords, built as a defense system, was first mentioned in a document on December 28, 1354. During the Middle Ages it was an income property of noble families and therefore often changed hands. The city of Velbert bought the property in 1939. Both the castle and the valuable casemates (underground defenses) are being renovated and are currently not available for use. ... "

Nice little castle, framed by a low but amazingly massive wall with 4 defense towers. Within walking distance from the train station or the historic center of Velbert Neviges.
Below is a small duck pond and adjoining it a forest area that extends to Velbert Tönisheide.
