The steam tram line from Tilburg via Goirle to Hilvarenbeek and Esbeek was opened on September 23, 1907. In Hilvarenbeek, the tram stopped at the Den Hemel, De Posthoorn and De Valk inns; in Esbeek at café Kerkzicht. The tram line ran through the following streets, among others: Heuvel, Piusplein, Korvelplein, (Tilburg), Tilburgseweg Kerklaantje (Goirle), Goirlesedijk, Gelderstraat, Hilvarenbeek (Hilvarenbeek), Esbeekseweg, Dorpsstraat (Esbeek).
The steam tram was outdated around 1930. The tram line from Tilburg to the border was discontinued on September 15, 1935 and public transport was taken over by the BBA buses.
