Sensory Beach Path

The “Beach Path of the Senses” (near Eckelsheim) illustrates the connections between geology, environment, vegetation (herbs to smell and taste), culture and wine.

The Beach Path of the Senses stretches over a distance of around 1.6 km through the vineyards between the Bell Church and the gravel pit. Like a walk on the beach, visitors can first experience with all their senses an alternation of rocks, boulders, gravel and sand in combination with plants from the earth's history on a small circular path.Further on, panels show the connections between the environment, vegetation, culture and wine with the geology as well as the development history of the former coastal region.The project's target groups are everyone interested in geology and landscapes, families with children, parents and senior citizens, as well as school classes and bus tourists. The long-term plan is to make the themed trail accessible to disabled people as much as possible.
