The “Beach Path of the Senses” is a 1.6 km long themed trail on which the development history of the former coastal region is explained. The so-called "Mainz Basin" was flooded by a subtropical sea 30 million years ago. This is where the coastline of that time ran with the most varied of coastal shapes, numerous peninsulas, bays and an archipelago made of volcanic subsoil. Source: rheinhessen.de
