"The "Order of Knights of the Cross with the Red Star" was founded in 1233 by St. Agnes of Bohemia from a hospital brotherhood in Prague and was recognized by Pope Gregory IX in 1237. The order, which has a good dozen members, is dedicated to nursing and charitable purposes. In 1733, Emperor Charles VI handed over the pastoral care of the newly built St. Charles Church to the Knights of the Cross, who still carry out their service today with short interruptions."
