It is not known exactly when the Gertrud Antonie fountain was built. It was initially named after the daughter of the quarry owner "Gertrudbrunnen". The quarry in the Birkenbühl forest department at an altitude of around 630 meters once belonged to the Franke & Reul company and has been abandoned for around 120 years. The well was then forgotten. In 1932 the Fichtelgebirge Association restored it. The stone (and thus also the fountain) was then given its second name: "Antonie". This stands for the then three-year-old daughter of Andreas Reul Jr., chairman of the FGV local group Kirchenlamitz-Ost and grandson of the co-owner of the quarry of the same name at the time. Gertrud Franke died in an accident; Antonie, married Hüttner, now lives in Hof.

Unfortunately, in the forest area at the Gertrud-Antonie fountain near Niederlamitz, the harvester made a clean sweep. In the once secluded forest section not far from the northern path, it looks like a military training area. It is difficult to walk over the fallen branches to even get to the well.

Not the big highlight, but still worth seeing. The fountain was the last destination of our walk today and it is still running, in this drought.

Well, which is located directly on the hiking trail.

A few meters further there is a small, beautiful quarry lake

The Gertrud Antonie fountain is in the middle of the forest.
But is, I think, more of a source with pretty rock than name stone.
