The village fountain in Weiher is lovingly decorated with hand-painted eggs by the village community, especially at Easter. Easter is the most important festival in the Christian calendar. Easter Sunday in particular is meant to be a day of joy, because it is the day on which the resurrection of Christ is celebrated and also the end of Lent. In the past, Easter water was said to have mystical powers and eggs have always been a staple food.

Today the well in Weiher appears inconspicuous. But in the past, water on the high plateau of Franconian Switzerland was a precious commodity. Before it was a matter of course to simply turn on the tap, people had to painstakingly obtain their drinking water from springs, cisterns, and wells. The special geology of Franconian Switzerland made the water supply a real challenge in many places.
At Easter, the well is lovingly decorated by the village community.
