As the discoloration shows, the water in the steel well contains minerals and iron. The fountain is already mentioned in the old state survey. Whether the water springs from a former tunnel has not yet been proven.

You can immediately see how iron-rich the spring water is by the rust-red color of the spring bed. The information board offers further interesting facts about the fountain.

Watch out for mountain bikers! Water leaves strong traces of rust on the bike. It is essential to drive over the stones immediately in front of the well and not over the meadow or the unpaved part in front of it. There you sink in deeply and "screw up" your bike.
