Former castle in EnspijkThe house in Enspijk may have been an allodial asset (= a free heritage) ever since its foundation, possibly in the fifteenth century. It was probably founded by a member of the Pieck family. This family owned property in Enspijk from the beginning of the fifteenth century. The house remained in the Pieck family until 1763, when Anne Frans Willem Pieck, the last member of the Pieck family, sold his entire property complex in Enspijk, including the allodial 'high house', to Christiaan Kleinhoff. It was then inherited by his daughter Anna Christina.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Enspijk was purchased by the Count of Bylant van Marienweerd, who had the house demolished in 1828.Nothing is known about the medieval appearance of the castle in Enspijk. The earliest images date from the 18th century, namely a drawing by Jan de Beijer from 1750 and by Cornelis Pronk from 1728.Source and more information: enspijk.info
