De Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt is an estate near the Gelderland town of Beesd.

De Heerlijkheid is built on the former Norbertine abbey Marienweerd. After the Reformation, the abbey estates were initially administered by the Provincial Executive of the Nijmegen Quarter, who, however, decided to sell them in the early 18th century. In 1734 Mariënwaerdt thus came into the hands of the Van Bylandt family, where it also received the status of high lordship. Descendants of this family still own the extensive estate. The current manor house was built between 1734 and 1790. Below the house is the medieval refectory of the old abbey still preserved.

The estate is open to the public. There is an estate shop, a wedding and meeting location, a pancake house, a brasserie and accommodation options.

What a wonderful place this is for a walk. You have to be careful for cyclists on the wider and paved paths, but it is definitely worth taking a nice walk around the estate.
