19th century working stone corn windmill of the type smock mill (stoop mill).

The mill was built in 1845 as an oil and grain windmill by Maria Amalia De Boever, widow of Petrus Fauconnier.

In 1953 the mill was donated to the non-profit organisation Les amis de la Commission Royale de Monuments et des Sites, which at the time also owned the Kalfmolen in Knokke and the Stenen Molen in Zwevegem. This association wanted to make the mill a tourist attraction along the busy Brussels-Ostend road.

In 1976 the mill burned down completely but was subsequently completely restored by the Cottenier company from Aalbeke with a completely new interior designed by architect Fernand Weyers (inauguration on 29 June 1984). In the following decades, many improvements were made that made the mill ready to grind, including the first application of steel divisible mill rods in Flanders (in 2015).
