A hiking trail runs through this forest between Hettingen and Issegem. Hiking in this area is highly recommended, but boots are recommended in winter. Natuurpunt (Natuurpunt) has identified two trails that pass through this forest: natuurpunt.be/natuurgebieden/ettingebos

The Ettingebos (not "Hettingen forest") was purchased by Natuurpunt Oosterzele in the spring of 2020 (yes, in full corona time).
For the time being, it is only possible to walk on one lane, but the intention is that the forest will be opened up in the long term (naturally protecting its natural value).

The forest may have been purchased "newly"; it is an old forest. "Typical of this are the many spring flowers, such as wood anemone, celandine and slender primrose," can be read on the A4 sheet that Natuurpunt hung at the entrance to the forest.
