The St. Francis Chapel may have belonged to the disappeared Blaasveld castle, the domain of which is part of the valuable Het Broek nature reserve.

According to literature, the chapel was founded in 1807. If this dating is correct, the Gothic design of the door and windows, if they are original, makes this building a very early example of Gothic Revival. An explanation may lie in the fact that the chapel is said to be based on the castle chapel of the disappeared castle.
