Broek De Naeyer is a wooded nature reserve with varied reed beds and open waters. The first shallow ponds were created in the 18th century by peat extraction. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the De Naeyer paper mill constructed settling basins and discharged wastewater into the Rupel River via the factory's culvert. In 2004, the factory closed permanently, and nature has recovered rapidly. Now you can enjoy a rich flora and fauna.
