The Schiffländi was already in the Middle Ages and is still an important place for Stein am Rhein today. It used to serve as a ship dock and goods transshipment point in front of the closed city wall. Today the Schiffländi is a public, lively square on the Rhine in the immediate vicinity of the town. The Schiffländi is used by both the population and tourists as a place to stroll and relax
