The town hall was built in 1528/29 and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The north wing was embellished between 1901 and 1904 by adding a decorative half-timbering and a small choir made of carved wood.

The large hall on the second floor was redesigned in 1952. A frieze of ornamented inscriptions depicting important Schwabach companies was created using 14,000 sheets of gold from Schwabach2. Since then, the hall has been called the "Golden Hall".
