The towpath on the Ryck is a nearly 3-kilometer-long walking and cycling path that leads from the Greifswald Museum Harbor to Wieck (or the other way around). Sections of the towpath were renovated in late spring 2024 and the path is therefore in very good condition. You can stroll here and watch the ships, or cycle and jog. Anglers are also very common here. A very beautiful path always directly along the Ryck! By the way, it is also very interesting how the towpath got its name!😉

Very close to the Wieck harbor lies the origin of the Hanseatic city of Greifswald: the ruins of the Cistercian monastery Hilda, later Eldena, founded in 1199. The monastery ruins can be reached from the Greifswald museum harbor via a five-kilometer-long towpath, always along the banks of the Ryck.

The Ryck is a river around 30 kilometers long. It rises west of Greifswald and feeds the Ryckgraben. As the Ryck, it continues to flow through the city with its museum harbor and flows into the Danish Wieck in the fishing village of Wieck as part of the Greifswalder Bodden.
