Here the towpath leads along the Ryck. The towpath on the Ryck is a nearly 3-kilometer-long walking and cycling path that leads from the Greifswald Museum Harbor to Wieck (or the other way around). Sections of the towpath were renovated in late spring 2024 and the path is therefore in very good condition. You can stroll here and watch the ships, or cycle and jog. Anglers are also very common here. A very beautiful path always directly along the Ryck! By the way, it is also very interesting how the towpath got its name!😉

The towpath was previously used to pull ships out of the Greifswald harbor. Today you can go hiking and cycling here. Old fruit trees grow at regular intervals along the way.

An old towpath leads along the banks of the Ryck from the fishing village of Wieck to the historic old town of Greifswald. Ideal to take a stroll and a bit of culture with you. The Eldena monastery ruins are not far from the Wieck car park. Painted by Caspar David Friedrich, who was born in Greifswald, it achieved world fame. Ideal for a gray day. Also because there is not so much going on on the popular towpath, which you have to share with joggers and cyclists.
