Hiking
When hikers climb up to Nideggen with its impressive castle from the valley of the river Rur, they have to climb quite a few metres in altitude. But the views from up here are worth the effort.

Nordic walking
Monumental red sandstone walls - on this is Nideggen Castle. Climbing is officially prohibited here - on the other hand, climbing is permitted for a fee on the Effels, the Hinkelstein and the 2Brüder group. Beware of falling rocks.

Hiking
This view of the Eifel (approx. 300 meters above sea level) on the west tower, the so-called "lady's bay window", of the castle offers you a south to north-westerly view over the central Rur valley and the northern parts of the Eifel National Park the plateau of the Rur-Eifel.
The west tower consists mainly of building fabric from the 14th century and served representative purposes with its large windows. Inside are the remains of a chimney, based on which it is assumed that the bowers for the female members of the count's family were also located here.
