It doesn't stand out that much from the plateau. At more than 925m, the Heidelstein is the fourth highest mountain in the Rhön. The Bavarian-Hessian state border runs across it. The easily recognizable 218m high radio tower/transmission mast is in Bavarian/Lower Franconian territory.
