Limestone hewn from the Wunsiedler marble train was used to build the wall. Therefore the city got the nickname "the city with the marble stone walls".
From here, two lanes branch off to the right. The first led to a wall gate that was only opened once a week. This is where the Butten used to be emptied, which also explains the name "Misttor" and the Wunsiedler nickname "Buttenscheißer". Due to a lack of space and probably also due to a feeling of cleanliness, the city of Wunsiedel decreed early on that the manure heaps belonging to the farmers of the "arable land" could not be left in front of the house on the street. So manure pits were built in front of the wall ring.

Quarrying took place as early as the Middle Ages; in Wunsiedel, the city wall of marble stones was built in the 14th century. The arts and crafts also took on the processing of marble, as evidenced by grave slabs and votive tablets. In the penitentiary built near Bayreuth in 1724, the convicts were employed to grind Wunsiedler marble.
