Hiking

Quarrying took place as early as the Middle Ages; in Wunsiedel, the city wall of marble stones was built in the 14th century. The arts and crafts also took on the processing of marble, as evidenced by grave slabs and votive tablets. In the penitentiary built near Bayreuth in 1724, the convicts were employed to grind Wunsiedler marble.
