Cleydael is historically part of the castle park of Cleydael Castle. On the old map of Count de Ferraris (1770-1775), the forest area is almost identical to the forest area today. The background as a castle park is especially reflected in the avenues with a view of the castle, the alternation between forest and open area and the various remarkable trees, such as the extensive old oaks and the hill on which a gazebo once stood.
