The old Jewish cemetery in Tachau was laid out around 1615 and has been a protected cultural monument since 2007. The bodies of more than 600 concentration camp prisoners were burned on the site and the ashes were buried here. A memorial has commemorated the mass grave since 1989

The old Jewish cemetery in Tachov (Tachau) was laid out around 1615. It has been a protected cultural monument since 2007. In the cemetery is the grave of Rabbi Nachum Sofer, who died in 1815 and was revered as a "miracle rabbi" by orthodox Jews.
During the November pogroms, the National Socialists devastated the cemetery. The cemetery later became one of the largest mass graves in Bohemia: the bodies of more than 600 concentration camp prisoners were cremated on the site and their ashes buried here. Since 1989 a memorial has commemorated the mass grave.
