I think it's a shame that you have to pay €1 per altar if you want to see it illuminated. Does the Church really need it that much?
Otherwise, I find the cathedral very worth seeing.

Hiking

We didn't go to the cathedral but to the bell tower. Very nice, but not for people who are afraid of narrowness or height. Admission is two euros, but you can see over Trieste.

Unusual, one of the finest Romanesque churches in Italy surrounded by many baroque church buildings. Romanesque structure and interior well preserved. Very worthwhile.
