"The Lingese dam is the oldest dam in the Wupperverband along with the Ronsdorf dam. The service water dam has been in operation since 1899. It is used for flood protection and to raise low water levels. The gravity dam of the dam was renovated between 1995 and 1998. The renovation ensures that it is functional according to today's standards safety standards and at the same time enables the wall to be preserved as a testimony and monument to an important era in dam construction."
