Hiking

This magnificent beech has an enormous trunk diameter and a powerful crown. Trees of such dimensions are relatively rare. They're usually felled before they're ready. I couldn't find out why this beautiful specimen was spared the ax and saw. A plaque is attached to the trunk, where there may have been a reference to it. Unfortunately it is completely weathered.
