Interesting insight into the workplace of former miners. Next to the hiking trail there is also part of a Roman road with the typical grooves.

Sabine's tip is correct, with the exception of the Roman road. This road was built in the 19th century, opened up the Winfeld and led past the former crushing plant to Kottenheim station. The road was built on a solid substructure and paved. It is indeed reminiscent of a Roman road. However, the wheel tracks come from iron-clad wagon wheels that transported millstones to Kottenheim station.
