The St. James Church is the parish church of Eversel. It is a simple neoclassical, brick hall church from 1849, a single-nave building with a built-in west tower. The architect was Lambert Jaminé. The church furniture includes a statue of Saint Bavo from about 1700 and a wooden statue of Saint Berthilia from the 17th century. There are also various neoclassical oak furniture, such as a confessional, black marble main altar and side altars, pulpit and rood loft. The organ comes from the Sint-Willibrorduskerk in Heusden and was built in 1770. It was renovated in the second half of the 19th century. In 1511, a chapel was built in Eversel that was dedicated to Saint Christopher and was served by the Augustinian fathers from Hasselt. The carbine guild of St. Jacob was founded in the 17th century. Around 1750, a new chapel was built, dedicated to Saint James the Greater and served by the pastor of Heusden. This is evident from a document from 1759 in which it was mentioned that the old chapel had a stone on top of it. The new chapel remained in existence until 1940. In 1839 Eversel became an independent parish. The new parish church, which was also dedicated to Saint James the Greater, was consecrated in 1849.
