Pond and Reed Landscape at Zonhoven

Settle down on the couch and enjoy the water lilies and birds, preferably nice and early. Note: during the "official walk" you walk past three lakes in total. The latter is unfortunately private/protected, the former has the most water birds, but this one is so beautiful and surrounded by reeds and beautiful trees.

Did you know: In 2020, a number of small development works were planned by Limburgs Landschap vzw. A number of trees on the bank side were to be largely cut down. However, a painting from the 1940s by Charles Wellens changed these plans. It showed that there were already Scots pines on the bank of this body of water at that time. A beautiful image that could be restored to its more or less original state with a small intervention.
