Original DDR Border Stone

These so-called “border stones” made of granite stood wherever the border with the GDR was bent, which were measured by the cadastral authorities of both German states in the 1970s.
The cross in the middle of the stone marked the exact route of the border to the GDR.

A maximum of a few hundred, possibly less than a hundred of them are still preserved in their original location.
Right next to it there is the broken remains of a white marking post with a red head that was set by the Federal Border Guard (BGS). For precise and clearly visible marking of the border so that no one accidentally runs into the GDR and is collected by the border troops.
