The orchards around Hohenleipisch, Döllingen and Kraupa are one of the landscape forms that make the Lower Lusatian Heathland Nature Park something special. The fruit growing around this place is favored by south-exposed, heat-favored locations and a particularly favorable rock composition (boulder marl), which is the consequence of the end moraine of the last ice age.

Fruit growing has a long tradition in Hohenleipisch and the surrounding area. Due to the south-facing, warm location of the orchards, and especially the shallow boulder till found in the fields of Kraupa, Dreska, Hohenleipisch, Dölingen, and Plessa, fruit growing has been practiced for many decades. The cultivation method is typical of scattered orchards.
