The Hermann Oak, once the most famous oak in the Muskau ensemble, was the Hermannseiche (Hermann's Oak). However, the grove burned down 35 years ago. Locals say it was a combination of lightning and arson. At that time, a successor was planted in the burnt-out trunk, which has since grown into a proud tree. The name Hermannseiche (Hermann's Oak) could, on the one hand, come from Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau himself, or from his grandfather, who also bore this name. Another theory points to Hermann the Cheruscan, who has served as a German mythological and symbolic figure since the 18th century, in reference to Arminius, the victor of the Battle of Varus. Location: approximately 130 meters west of the Odin's Oak

This veteran oak was destroyed by arson in 1987. A successor has since been planted within its torso, just as was done with the Prince Pückler copper beech at Muskau Castle. A direct comparison reveals the former aura of this bygone giant, which once had a circumference of 8.50 meters.
